A garage door opener is an electronic device that opening and closing a garage door is controlled by electronic switches positioned on the garage ceiling. Garage door openers are powered by mechanical motors or by electricity and are used to raise or lower the entrance of the garage. Garage door openers can also be referred as overhead openers or rolling shutters. Most have a handheld electronic remote that is usually carried by an individual that is used to open and shut the door from a large distance. Some are also equipped with the safety feature that will be activated only if someone comes within a certain range of the opener, and batteries in the event the power goes out.
